Bassenthwaite in Cumbria's Lake District is a beautiful place and St Bega's Church, a place of great serenity, which stands on the shore of Bassenthwaite lake, adds greatly to the charm of this area.  The delightful little church is dedicated to St Bega, a 7th century Irish princess who is reputed to have lived at Bassenthwaite and to be buried in this place.  St Bega also had a priory dedicated to her at St Bees, on the Cumbrian Coast.   This design uses only whole cross stitch to depict the lovely St Bega's Church .
