Dunham Massey, Cheshire

Originally built by the Earls of Warrington, Dunham Massey in Cheshire was started in the early 17th Century by William Booth but it was not until after the Civil War that it was completed by his son George,1st Baron Delamer . Dunham Massey was later aquired by the Earls of Stamford, due to the marriage of Lady Mary Booth, to a member of the Grey family, during the First World War it became known as Stamford Military Hospital and was later designated a Grade 1 Listed Building in March 1959. On the death of the 10th Earl of Stamford, in 1976, Dunham Massey passed into the ownership of the National Trust.     Steeped in history and set amid beautiful gardens and parkland Dunham Massey is depicted here in this counted cross stitch design which uses whole cross stitch, fractionals and backstitch and French knots.

Note that all thread comes pre-sorted onto thread cards, which show the symbol and the shade number of each thread for easy identification.

The charts are deliberately printed in large format so that the symbols are clear and easy to see and should not require the use of a magnifying glass or to be enlarged further.
